Maybe some other time...Trickster is one of Nana's songs that is getting constant replay on ikka's portable, and the video is quite a few shades of awesome, too. Still wondering why I didn't get into it during the first few spins.

Today yesterday was great, found this shop with some CDs that might not be so easily available back home. FictionJunction YUUKA's circus (first press) was selling at 20RMB...! It sort of makes up for the horrible temperatures (ikka is a tropical animal).

I always thought that I would have more alipro translations than for Yousei Teikoku...but then again, trying to (re)create the Takarano Literary Effect is rather difficult. This translation has the odd honor (?) of having ikka go over it multiple times and wondering if it really is supposed to be as, um..."easy" as it seemed.

On another note, ikka caught a scanlation of Vapour Trail today :DDD It looks like the first humor-centric RAID SLASH doujin afaik, which is probably something special in itself *laugh*

I've always liked this song a lot. The vocals and music just really fit (especially the repetitive parts in the chorus), plus it's a (generally) fast song from alipro, which is never a bad thing for ikka :D

In ikka's opinion, Shoujo Kizoku fits Rozen Maiden, arguably the show that really got people to take note of them, to some extent. Listen to a LQ version of it here...what do you think?

Another song by Yousei Teikoku for the HiME/Otome series, this time, it's the OP for the Mai Otome PS2 fighting game. Even though the game was said to have not lived up to gameplay expectations despite well-done cutscenes and graphics (can't say much about this as I've never played it), I'd say that the song is one of the finer points of it. To be honest, ikka enjoyed watching the opening video not only for the scenes it contained, but for the song as well.

Ikka remembers seeing part 1 over at the Animesuki HiME image thread a long time ago, which is an indicator of 1) how much time has passed from when she started dragging out this translating project that should have been done in much less time and 2) how universal DarkCurtis-san's humor is ←me likes this indicator more. xP

DarkCurtis-san also added before that (s)he drew the Hisayuki in this strip without knowing what he looks like...he just happened to turn out looking a bit like Tate. *laughs*

Not exactly a very recent song, but translations for it haven't been easy to find. Which is also the reason ikka is attempting what seems to be the first English translation (so says Google), since there probably are folks that like this song as much as (or even more than) I do...

Here's hoping that this rather broken translation will be useful in helping fans gain a better understanding of the song and/or spreading the Yousei Teikoku love.

The words from behind the door in the last koma is a show of ikka's efforts in editing the original text to English---easier than the Nao one by A BIG FAT LOT. Which is also why I dared to do so in the first place, of course ><;;; Perhaps it would be better to leave the words as they are and make a note instead? Please give comments on this!

Just finished re-reading the Chinese scanlation over at 300 (those are some amazing folks there! Do not take the scans without permission, it'll only make them upset!), together with Raid Slash's MSLN A's to StrikerS doujin Thunderbird, which I recommend to anyone who likes excellent artwork and even better plot (and if you like the Testarossas, this may be a great read). This is possibly the only circle that ikka views on the same circle as TOURS (Nanzaki Iku), maybe even higher. They are that good. Comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and oranges however, because their genres are so different ^^;

Dang, now ikka is tempted to do an entry on Thunderbird...need to get down to TLing! *whacks self*
